I have 1 Ubuntu 14.04 desktop and 2 AP-linux v3 laptops and also 1 mac with Macos 10.8 or so. All systems are on the same subnet and are able to ping each other (and the other way around…)
Now I have shared a folder on the Ubuntu desktop, set the permissions to all read/write and put a file there. The Mac is immediately showing the shared folder and I can access it and read and write files in that folder without any problem. However the two AP linux systems cannot. I open file manager and click on “browse network” but nothing is shown there except for my modem and a windows workgroup (?) but not the ubuntu system/shared folder and or even the mac.
Even after rebooting “browse network” still doesn’t show anything. How is this possible and, more important, how can I solve this? It should be fairly easy right to share files on the local network?
If any additional info is needed, please tell me.
